The Album Project Volume III

This year, we're going for gold!

Our third album continues our mission to challenge the choral world and inspire a new vision for Stay At Home Choir, championing diversity and new music whilst still enjoying the old classics.

We've got plans for the Album project for the next decade, widening choral horizons and establishing an annual tradition of creative collaboration
 across the globe.

Exciting, right?

Great, addictive. Each project gets better and better!

I loved Album II, specially Ofulu Lorere. I managed to attend several rehearsals and special sessions and I was able to record and submit all the pieces. The final result is awesome 😎

Glad I Signed Up!

Carol Angelopoulou

I almost didn't sign up for this as I knew I would be busy all the way through July, but I'm so glad I did. It gave me a wonderful August. What a lovely choice of music! And what a lot I learned from the rehearsals and specialist sessions.

Great project with five diverse pieces

Antje Carl

I personally like to be challenged musically, so five different and gorgeous pieces was just perfect. As always, it is great to sing with the SAHC, such a nice community and special thanks to Tori, Jamie, and the team.

The music selected for this album project was thoughtfully chosen to include all parts and levels of singing abilities. Stay At Home Choir continues to provide a world of musicians the opportunity to learn, grow, and develop their natural talent in a most wonderful diverse fashion. Borne out of the passion for music, this virtual choir organization goes beyond the limits with each project by providing personal and expert guidance for each piece. Their pursuance of connecting with composers and including this component in teaching videos for participants to "meet" and hear from the masters directly is clearly an added bonus I would likely NEVER experience in my in-person choir. I offer humble thanks for this gift that keeps on giving!

I very much enjoyed this project. I knew some of the pieces already, so it was a good balance between new and familiar music. The resources as ever are spot on - with good support for getting the recording right. And the final result is very polished, and of a better quality than with projects with other organisations that I have participated in.

Vse Upovaniie Moie by Hanna Havrylets

English Translation

All my hope is in you, my glorious paradise,

In your mercy, all my hope I place in you.

Mother, the holy power of all saints,

Immaculate and blessed, I pray, I cry, I weep:

Look on them, o purest, on these wretched blind slaves.

Give them the strength of your martyred son

So that they may carry their cross- their chains to the very, very end.

The Stories Behind The Tracks

Hanna Havrylets Vse Upovaniie Moie

We are sure that not many of you will have had the chance to sing pieces by Hanna Havrylets, even finding the music for this incredible track required a lot of work from our team, let us tell you about this amazing artist and why you’re going to love this piece!

Havrylets, whilst a huge contributor to symphonic, chamber and choral music in Ukraine, is not as well known throughout the rest of the world.  Part of our mission at SAHC is to sing the greatest choral works but also to introduce our members to new pieces and further lesser known artists.

Devastatingly, Hannah Havrylets passed away on 27th February 2022 through difficulties in accessing emergency medical care for a pre-existing condition. Wanting to honour this amazing woman, our team contacted many different industry professionals and friends and within 24 hours, we had it! We have already been on quite a journey with this piece and have the opportunity to be the first choir to record it on an album, something our Ukrainian friends and contacts are very excited to hear!  We hope you will love learning this track and can’t wait to get started learning it with you.

This was such a clever mix of well-known standards with interesting and fun less-well-known pieces that should be known by a wider audience. If SAHC can be the catalyst that brings these pieces to a wider audience, I am all in. We heard from experts in the field of Mozart and Parry, and from two living composers giving amazing insights to their creation and creative process. I particularly enjoyed hearing from Eriks who gave a whole new insight into the importance of non-worded parts. But the cherry on top was Ayokunmi Ojebode Ph.D. revealing the depths of Osvaldo Lacerda's Ofulú Lorêrê, the Yorùbá culture and history and the Condomblé region. I would never have heard of this piece, but for for the breadth of musical knowledge of the SAHC team and its wonderful leaders, Tori and Jamie. Thank you, thank you, thank you for a wonderful project. You make it so easy to fit learning and recording complex and challenging music around 'normal life'.

Good selections!

I had sung "Lacrimosa", "O Love", and "I was glad" before, but the Esenvalds "My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose" and the Lacerda "Ofulu Lorere" were new to me. I was glad to revisit the first three and the new ones to me were really fun to sing!

Wow! It was a very slow start for me. So many new pieces I had not heard of let alone sung before. However, I do like fun challenges and thoroughly enjoyed learning this range of music. Tutorials are great - mainly watched as catch-up on this project but that is the beauty of the SAHC - all materials, recorded practice videos and in-depth Tutti Rehearsals with Tori, Jamie and Graham help to develop your voice, tone and technique over and over again. Above all, getting to the nitty gritty of a piece and hearing the history and inspiration behind them is the best value. I wish I had started choral singing or just singing earlier in life; who knows what I could have achieved on this Project? I finished all pieces as best I could and next time...I have the benefit of the SingPlus and SAHC Membership. I love the SAHC and I am having fun. It is helping me in so many ways.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I join the Album Project III?

To join The Album Project III click the Sign Up Now button above. Once you’ve signed up you’ll receive an email with information about how to access the album scores and learning tracks, and how to join online rehearsals.

The Album Project III will run over the course of the spring, with learning content front-loaded to give you plenty of time to record and submit at your own pace. See above for key dates and deadlines.

How much does the Album Project III cost to join?

The Album Project II costs £45 to join; members of our new subscription receive a 20% on this and all future projects.
The project price includes the learning resources for all five pieces; all five scores, guide tracks, online rehearsals and special guest sessions with composers and guest artists.

The price of our Album Projects is higher than our single-track recording projects, reflecting the longer duration and the larger number of rehearsals and resources we offer for this project.

Can I pay to join rehearsals for just one track?

An important of our ethos is to champion less well known and diverse repertoire and help it become more widely known and loved. The Album Project is an invitation to SAHC members to discover this repertoire with us, so we’ve programmed a selection works that sit well together. For this reason, The Album Project is offered as a package of five pieces rather than as five individual tracks.

Once you’ve joined the project you are welcome to attend as many rehearsals you like, and to learn and record all five tracks or just one. However, we can’t offer a discount for taking part in fewer than five tracks.

We will continue to run single-track recording projects throughout the year, and there’s new exciting stuff in the pipeline which we’ll be announcing very soon.

Can I donate to support the waitlist for this project?

Yes you can! To sponsor a place on our waitlist, please select Sponsor The Waitlist from our price list below. We greatly appreciate the generosity of SAHC members who sponsor waitlist places, supporting singers who otherwise wouldn't be able to take part.

If you would like to make an additional donation to the Stay At Home Choir, please click here. We’re a very small team and we receive no external funding. Any donation you can make, large or small, is greatly appreciated by all of us.

Our funding model is constantly evolving. For now, we are 100% funded by project registration fees, but we hope to be able to secure funding in the future to help keep us going.

  • I'm unable to join the live rehearsals, can I watch them back later?

Yes! All of our projects are streamed to Youtube. Rehearsals are made available to watch back as many times as you like.

  • Do I have to submit a recording? Can I just take part in the rehearsals?

Not if you don’t want to! It’s absolutely fine for you to just come along to rehearsals and take part in the process without submitting a recording. If the project is a video project, we also accept audio-only submissions for those who would prefer not to be seen

  • I've not sung in an in-person choir before and don't have much/any choir experience, can I still take part?

Absolutely! We provide all the materials you need to learn the music for our projects, including the score, voice-part specific rehearsals, and learning tracks. With members from over 75 countries with every possible experience level we make sure that whichever way you learn there are the resources you need.
